Solgaard partners with Sungai Watch to install river waste collection barriers across Indonesia. This has enabled them to hire a team of locals to install and operate a series of river barriers that collect over 1,000 kgs of plastic daily from Indonesia's most polluted rivers and mangroves.
Currently, 1.6M lbs of plastic (equivalent to over 52 million plastic bottles) have been diverted from our oceans via plastic waste collections with our plastic removal partnerships. For every product sold, they clean up 6 lbs of ocean-bound plastic from coastal communities.
Their proprietary fabric is made from ocean-bound plastic. In 2017, they began working to build a supply chain for commercial scale plastic collection from beaches and riverways, using that to make fabric. They unveiled their award-winning proprietary fabric made from ocean- bound plastic, Shore-Tex® in 2019.
